The FMCG Supplier Development Initiative (SDI) is a commercial consortium that brings together private partners, government, universities, and community stakeholders to support local and rural producers.
The SDI helps small manufacturers access high-volume consumer markets, aiming to increase local FMCG production to 40% by 2030, aligned with the National Development Plan. Through this collaboration, the consortium:

Cultivation and processing of yellow maize for use in food products, animal feed, and commercial consumer markets.
Production of white maize, a staple food product, processed for human consumption and distribution in retail markets.
Processing maize into samp, a traditional food product prepared and packaged for local and commercial markets.
Manufacturing feed products from maize and other ingredients to support livestock and agricultural farming sectors.
Developing and producing compliant packaging that prepares products for retail shelves and consumer purchase.
Implementing product placement, promotions, and visibility strategies to increase product awareness and sales in stores.
Monitoring and controlling product inventory to ensure consistent supply and efficient distribution.
Managing product replenishment systems to ensure retailers can quickly restock products based on demand.
