FMCG SDA - Future FMCG Leaders Programme

Developing the next generation of FMCG project managers

The programme embeds Junior Project Management Units (JPMUs) inside every FMCG SDA project site—bringing on-the-ground

The Future FMCG Leaders Programme is the hands-on, boots-on-the-ground project delivery engine of the FMCG Supplier Development Accelerator (FMCG SDA). Operating through our Junior Project Management Unit (JPMU) service platform, we train and deploy junior project professionals directly into high-priority FMCG SDA sites — ensuring every project location has dedicated, boots-on-the-ground capacity to:

  • Drive implementation

  • Track and achieve milestones

  • Coordinate resources

  • Keep operations moving at pace

From Feed & Food Aggregation and Distribution Centres (FFADCs) to AgriNest community food-security initiatives, from retail-readiness programmes to light-industrial manufacturing projects, our JPMU teams are strategically placed where execution matters most. This strengthens rural and township supply chains while giving young professionals career-defining experience in project management, supply-chain coordination, and enterprise development.

Note: While JPMU teams work directly at individual project sites to manage daily operations and deliver milestones, they are coordinated and overseen by the FMCG SDA Programme Management Office (PMO) at the programme/portfolio level. This ensures every site-level action is aligned with FMCG SDA’s overall strategic objectives and reporting requirements.

Strategic market platforms supported:

  • Provincial Retailer Localisation Programme (PRLP) – Connecting local producers to formal FMCG markets (SPAR, Pick n Pay, Boxer), food-service distributors, and hospitality buyers.

  • Government Procurement of Agricultural Products (GPAP) – Integrating smallholder farmers, processors, and light-manufacturing enterprises into departmental procurement pipelines (Education, Social Development, Defence, etc.).

On-the-Ground Capacity

• Dedicated junior project team on every site. • Daily logistics & compliance support. • Real-time milestone tracking & problem-solving.

Execution Arm of the PMO

• Works under the supervision of the FMCG SDA PMO. • Stakeholder coordination • Monitoring, evaluation & reporting.

Career Launchpad

• Recruits WIL students & graduates. • Live-project training across supply chains. • Clear pathway into senior project roles.
